HH Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan Humanitarian and Scientific Foundation and Head of the Board of Trustees of the Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan International Thalassemia Award, recently inaugurated in Abu Dhabi the first ever regional office of the World Thalassemia Federation. The opening was attended by Panos Anjelioss president of the World Association of Thalassemia in Cyprus, and representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO), scientists, patients and medical professionals.

The vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is to provide advanced medical services for each patient and support outreach programs to reduce the spread of the diseases of Hemoglobin in all the countries that fall within the geographical area covered by the work of the regional office in Abu Dhabi.

The Regional Office will be chaired by Sheikha Sheikha Bint Saif Al Nahyan to strengthen relations with Thalassemia associations in the region, opening a channel of communication between the medical bodies in those countries and the World Health Organization, and the implementation of joint projects and put development plans for the services provided therein, the regional office will also be in touch and continuous cooperation with the regional offices of the World Health Organization (WHO) in these countries.
